Most people rebuild their CV from scratch every time. Entries about experience and skills get lost along the way or are simply forgotten. SkillVault prevents that: positions, activities and skills are documented once and held as an inventory, and out of that inventory a few clicks produce exactly the file a given role calls for.

What draws me to it is the combination of so many of my own skills and interests. The project grew out of wanting such a tool myself. Once I started building it, it became clear the same tool could be useful to other people, so I developed the idea into a full product.

Control over your own data comes first in SkillVault. That is why the desktop edition stores everything locally, while the web edition serves as an entry point and a low-threshold way to try the functionality out.

  • Deliberately narrow product scope: no job board, no coaching, no page builder
  • Twelve templates, a page editor with real A4 pages, complete data export
  • Its own website including manual, comparison and blog, in plain HTML

University project with an industry partner · 2026

Hartkorn Gewürzmühle

One project, three sub-studies. My focus: e-commerce.

Work setting for the project: the study report open with charts, next to it a notebook showing the online shop and two spice jars of the Rosemary and Co. brand, seen from above in daylight.

The overall project was an empirical analysis of consumer-related factors influencing purchase decisions, once in bricks-and-mortar retail and once in a digital setting. Three sub-studies ran in parallel, each with its own research design, brought together in a joint report for the industry partner.

I was responsible for the e-commerce strand. For the Rosemary & Co. brand we developed a framework for naming and imaging new set products, and derived recommendations for raising the conversion rate and the average order value.

To build the frameworks, revenue-driving properties of naming and of visual language were identified and combined into a ranking system in three variants. Alongside it, an evaluation process was designed whose results feed back into the ranking system and keep improving it. Additional data collection, mystery shopping among it, identified shop features that raise the order value and turned them into recommendations. An A/B test evaluated how the framework affects the purchase decision.

My two parts within the e-commerce strand

Part 1 · Analysis

Academic study

From the research question through the study design to the analysis and the recommendations, plus the chapters that tie all three sub-studies together.

  • Design of the framework and the processes around it
  • A/B test, analysis, and what its results mean for the framework
  • Competitor and market analysis to find room for improvement in e-commerce
  • Report and presentation in German, submitted July 2026

The report contains client and participant data and is therefore not made available.

Part 2 · Creative

Rosemary & Co., naming and art direction

A framework for finding names and developing the visual language of set products in the online shop, worked through on three example sets.

  • Process design for naming and imagery
  • Reproducible development of three example set ideas
  • Framework for evaluating names and product images, built on those sets
  • Production of matching names and image assets for the online shop

The thesis was written at a time when distributed ledger technology was being sold in marketing as the answer to very different questions: transparency in the supply chain, users owning their data, fraud in programmatic ad buying, customer loyalty through tokens.

It laid those use cases side by side and asked which of them the technology actually solves better than an ordinary database, and where the effort, the cost and the regulatory situation argue against it. The result was less enthusiasm than the debate suggested at the time, and a clearer view of what implementing the technology really demands in practice.

Summary written by me. I am happy to provide the full thesis on request.

Interdisciplinary project · winter term 2020/21

Integrated marketing concept for a startup

From the brand to the first public appearance, in a team of ten.

Overview of the brand elements developed: logo, colour palette, business card and a section of the style guide, laid out flat side by side on a light surface.

The brief was to develop an integrated marketing concept for a young communications company, one that shapes every touchpoint of the brand without contradiction and so produces a clear brand identity and high integrity. Out of it came the logo, the slogan, corporate identity and corporate design, a style guide, a business card, a website draft and a social media concept.

The most interesting part for me was how visual and verbal communication work together. From developing a coherent typographic image to planning the social media campaign, integrated communication is a powerful instrument for raising the effectiveness of what a brand says.

The project was marked from the start by a high degree of collaboration in an interdisciplinary team, which was good for looking beyond one's own corner. It also became clear very quickly how much a sound project structure matters when work has to be coordinated across a large team, decisions documented and responsibilities clearly assigned.

Web

Websites for local businesses

Small and mid-sized businesses rarely need a large solution. They need a site that loads fast, works on a phone and brings in the enquiries the business lives on. Concept, copy, design and implementation come from one hand here.
